Kishlay Kumar started his early career as a researcher at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, India. His research focus on male infertility, employing diverse molecular techniques such as Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms and the assessment of sperm DNA damage, that earned him recognition, including the prestigious Marie Curie ESR Fellowship for his doctoral studies. During his PhD he explored deeper into studying sperm DNA damage in both human and murine subjects, broadening his research interest to include sperm proteomics.
Post-PhD his interest in male (in)fertility research led him to the ESHRE ReproUnion Travelling Fellowship at Lund University, Sweden, where he explored small RNAs-miRNAs and piRNAs in subfertile men. Subsequently, at the University of Oxford, UK, as a postdoctoral researcher, Kishlay studied the mitochondrial DNA variants and CNVs in various human and murine reproductive cells, utilizing an array of sequencing techniques, including single and multi-cell sequencing.
His expertise earned him a Senior Research Scientist role at JUNO Genetics UK, where he played a pivotal role in designing, developing, and applying genetic tests for screening patients undergoing Assisted Reproductive Techniques.
Kishlay Kumar joined Micropathology Ltd as a full time post-doctoral scientist in November 2023.
