Dr Holly Shropshire graduated from the University of Exeter with an BSc(Hons) degree in Biological Sciences with a specialisation in Microbiology and Infectious Diseases in 2016. She completed a Masters by Research at the University of Warwick in 2017 investigating the sugar transporters of Mycobacterium tuberculosis. She continued her studies at the University of Warwick graduating in 2022 with a PhD on the link between virulence and membrane lipid remodelling in Burkholderia cenocepacia. After completing her PhD, she was a Research Assistant with Dr Freya Harrison, testing potential antimicrobials against biofilms of cystic fibrosis pathogens in an ex vivo pig lung model. She then was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with Prof Yin Chen to continue her PhD work. Most of her work has centred around understanding the relationship between cystic fibrosis pathogens and their human host to find potential therapeutic targets.
Holly joined Micropathology Ltd in 2023 as a Postdoctoral scientist in the microbiology team.
