Dr Heather Scott MChem, PhD

Post-Doc Scientist

Quality Assistant

Heather graduated from the University of Warwick in 2018, with an MChem degree in Chemistry. This included a research project characterising bacterial enzymes involved in the degradation of lignin material from plants as part of the Bugg group. She then went on to complete a PhD in biochemistry at Warwick, working as part of the Tosin group within the Department of Chemistry. This project involved the characterisation of glycosylation-related enzymes using a range of functional and structural techniques (including bioinformatic analysis, X-ray protein crystallography, and HPLC-based detection assays) for their potential application in engineered biosynthetic pathways for the production of antimicrobial natural products. During this time, Heather also completed a 3-month placement at Micropathology Ltd working with the quality team.

After completing her PhD in 2023, she returned to the quality team at Micropathology Ltd full time, but is also involved in sample handling within the lab.
