Gary Keane graduated from the University of Maynooth in 1984 with a BSc (Hons) in Biology/Chemistry, which was followed by an MSc in Pharmacology in 1987. He worked in CSIR (South Africa) from 1987-1989 producing monoclonal antibodies to food related synthetic peptides. Between 1990 and 2010 Gary was carrying out diagnostic horticulturally based projects at Horticultural Research International, Wellesbourne raising monoclonal antibodies to different fungal/viral/bacterial based antigens. Also, during this period, he was working in a group studying the genetics. of different baculoviruses and evaluating their use as biological control agents on a variety of crops. Between 2010 and 2020 Gary was involved in research projects at Worcester University developing monoclonal antibodies to horticultural and biomedical fungi/proteins and subsequently using these in lateral flow technology platforms.
Gary joined Micropathology Ltd in November 2020 where he works in the area of serological and molecular diagnosis of multiple pathogens.
