Alison graduated from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne with a BA(Hons) in Geography; she went on to work in the travel industry. In 2002 she embarked upon a career change, and in 2006 graduated from the University of Central England with a BA(Hons) in Jewellery Design, and was self-employed as a designer.
Alison started work at Micropathology in June 2014, in a part time administrative role. From February 2021 she has been employed as Quality Assistant.
