The Bartonella genus contains at least eight species of bacteria that are known to have caused disease in humans. Most clinically significant is Bartonella henselae, the causal agent of cat scratch disease, which can lead to serious complications such as endocarditis and meningoencephalitis if the infection becomes disseminated. At Micropathology Ltd we have developed a new assay for the rapid detection of bacteria within the Bartonella genus. Download information PDF.
